Maurice and Harry are enjoying an idyllic life in Trinity, Nova Scotia. Maurice has left the Art Gallery of Halifax to start his own gallery in Trinity and has met with great success. After the events that happened a few years ago and Harry’s vanquishing of the Sandman Killer, Harry bides their time signing their new book on the subject and discussing advances for the movie rights.

But the pebbled beaches and quiet life aren’t perfect for everyone, as evidenced by the small dog Harry finds waterlogged and tied to a dock along their favourite jogging route. When the friendly, damp pooch is also tied to a murder, and a potential threat to Harry and Maurice’s family, Harry will be plunged into a world of homophobia, classism and cults that could upturn everything they hold dear.
